thank god almighty, we are free at last

i just kind of suck at ever keeping up to date with this thing. i think it's because i'm so perfectionist that i keep waiting until i think i'm going to have the time and motivation to sit down and write everything exactly how it should be. of course, that's never going to happen.

so, i graduated.

it doesn't feel like it or anything, but i'm sure it will hit me sometime in the middle of august when i go to "school" and "school" is not ten minutes from "home." when "home" is four hours away from my house. the whole last week before school was over was the most horrific and horrendous serious of events that could ever have occurred, and i'm glad to leave it all behind. needless to say, i had always thought i would be sad at my last band concert, but instead i was just happy that i would never have to go back. that, in itself, was actually quite saddening. band video was stress on a stick, but it finally came out. band party was a success! and senior awards night was the biggest waste of my time i've ever sat through.

and ohmygodstarwars. to keep this as on topic as possible, i will refrain. but, ohmygodstarwars.

then it was senior trip! thirteen of us set out in search of fun, and we found it! the first night, we ate in gruene (pronounced "green") at the grist mill, which was mighty tasty. we shopped around, skipped rocks, and then went dancing in gruene hall, where we all learned how to two-step. melanie even got herself a dirty-old-man date! then we all went to this sketch movie theater to see star wars (it was my second time!).

in the morning, we went to naegelin's bakery, where whitney ate a turnover the size of her head, and i bought smiley cookies! then it was off to schlitterbahn. unfortunately, half the park turned out to be closed. fortunately, they only charged half admission. it was a blast, and i especially had fun people-watching and people-making-fun-of with whitney and rita in the world's longest line for a water ride. we left for san antonio, and arrived in time to tool around on the riverwalk and eat at this nice, upscale italian place (which had amazing pizza). afterwards, we sat around and talked about how much we hated band, which we're very good at.

the next day, we slept in and then headed to la villita to do some shopping. a lot of the stuff wasn't open, but it was still fun. after that, we went to mi tierra, which is this awesome mexican restaurant that has the best quesadillas and sopapillas i've ever had. so of course, that's what i ordered. we left from there to come home, which turned out to be a horrible, rainy, trafficky drive back to houston. but the coolness of the whole trip more than made up for it.

i guess i'll write about actual graduation day later - getting kind of tired right now.
