sorry i didn't blog today. i went to the satellite spacefest at my old elementary school, then to church and out to eat (chris came with us). when i got home, i started working on we were only freshmen. and that is what i've done thus far with my time. :o)

only four more days until spring break. that's what i keep telling myself. :o) school went by slow again today. probably because we were doing boring stuff in all of my classes. we didn't play today in band, we did numbers in spanish, literary discussion in english, and triangles in geometry. *yawn* i'm really mad at the stupid board of trustees at my school for changing when finals are. i was planning to go to florida for the opening of the two towers and to meet a bunch of people, but now we have finals that week. how retarded is that?? *grr*

time for the tuesday too again!
is there someone in your life who is or was your mentor? how did this person influence your life?
hmmm.... good question. i dunno if there's really any one person i know who influenced my life in some great way. maybe my fourth grade teacher. that was my best year ever, because she was a wonderful teacher. i loved that class. however, nowadays, i have a lot of people i know that i can talk to when i need to (mostly online people). like emily and smitha. they always help me when they can, and we get along great.
2.) what do you consider one of the biggest problems facing you as an individual?
procrastination as well. for instance, i have 20 chapters to read in great expectations for tomorrow. i should have already been done, so that kind of sucks. and last night i spent my entire evening working on a current events project that i put off until the last day. so i suppose the only reason i sometimes make bad grades is because i don't do the work. so laziness, too, i guess.
3.) what's your favorite movie and why?
i guess i would have to say that my all time favorite movie is star wars: a new hope. yep, i'm a star wars freak. and get this. the empire strikes back is my favorite star wars movie, but a new hope is my favorite movie overall. figure that one out.

so i ended up getting
so i ended up getting to chapter 51 of great expectations. while i didn't finish, at least i'm close to being done now. only eight chapters to go, thank god. :op i think we have to read animal farm next. i've heard it's easy, you just have to figure out what each of the characters represents (an allegorical novel, i guess?). at least we don't have to do the stupid book commentaries and analysis like last year. our teacher last year made us buy the book, use highlighter in it, and use sticky notes to make commentaries. ick, i hated that. now all we have to do is read the book.

1. what makes you homesick?
i really don't get homesick like i used to. when i was little i could barely spend the night away from home. in fact, i had to come home in the middle of the night on many an occasion. but now, i suppose i'm okay with it, and i just miss people more than i get homesick.
2. where is "home" for you? is it where you are living now, or somewhere else (ie: mom & dad's house, particular state/city)?
well, obviously, since i still live with my parents, and i'm only 15, i suppose my house here in houston is home. other than here, i suppose i've always felt at home in san antonio, which is where i want to live, and it's the city that's pictured in my blog, obviously.
3. what makes it home for you? people? things?
the fact that my bedroom is here, most likely.
4. where is the furthest you've been from home, miles-wise?
hmmm, well, with family, it would be about 1900 miles, when i went to san francisco for my cousin's wedding. by myself, it would be about 1000 miles, when i went to colorado for boy scout summer camp when i was 11.
5. what are your plans for this weekend?
i actually don't think i have any. spring break started today, so i think i'll just be taking it easy and enjoying it. :o)

oh yeah, for j.f., who was asking what w00t meant:
there's a certain language used online called 1337 5p33k. translation: leet speak (or, elite speak). it uses numbers and computer symbols that substitute for letters. like so:
j00 4r3 73h n00b.
this would be translated as: you are the newbie. in this example, a zero is used to represent an o, a 7 for a t, a 4 for an a, and a 3 for an e. there are also certain words which are unique to the 1337 language. some of these are 'j00' (you), 'yu0' (also you), 'n00b' (newbie), 'h4x0r' (hacker), and '73h' (the). just to name a few. one of these certain words is the word 'w00t'. i must confess i am quite unequal to the challenge of deriving the etymology of the word 'w00t', but i can tell you that it's an exclamation used to show excitement or happiness.
example: w00t! i 4r3 g01ng 70 73h m0v135!!!11
the extra 1's added onto an exclamation are a welcome addition to any 1337 phrase.
and there you have it. a brief, yet informative view into the world of 1337 h4x0rz.

hey! it worked. after i
hey! it worked. after i went out to church and out to eat, i met up with laura, callie, jordan, elly, andrew, amanda, and david at the movie. the movie was great, but do not go see it if you're in a happy mood. so anyway, after the movie, we were like waiting outside and hanging out, and these three mexican guys come up to us and told us to stop throwing skittles at them. no, i don't have any idea what they were talking about either. so when my dad showed up, those guys were parked in front of my dad's car alongside another car. so they sat there, talking between cars, in front of us, for 10 minutes, effectively creating a roadblock. when skittle group™ decided to leave (finally) and the other car was pulling up to the exit of the parking lot, we started going. so at the exit, the car in front of us stops, and we stop, and then they start rolling backwards toward us. so my dad holds down his horn but they don't get the point until they run into us. not the brightest crayon in the box. so this mexican lady with 10 pounds of makeup daintily applied gets out and the conversation holds as so:
her: did you just run into me??
dad: no, you rolled back and hit me.
her: i don't *think* so, okay?
dad: i wasn't moving.
*i get out of car*
me: uh, you hit us. got a problem?
her: no, i did not.
me: *rolls eyes* uh, like, yeah, you did.
her: don't you get all f---ing huffy with me, boy!
me: you'll get over it.
*dad makes me get back in the car*
her: *stares at the car* do you have insurance?
note: all that happened was a little bit of our liscence cover paint rubbed off... *gasp* oh no.
dad: yes. *blank stare*
me: *cracking up*
her: okay, you just be more careful, okay??! *gets in the car all angry like and drives away*
the best part of all this: she was talking on the cell phone the entire time, even when she was talking to us. lmao, i hate stupid people so much.

sorry i didn't get the chance to blog yesterday. i woke up pretty late and went to double dave's (pizza) with callie, cody, laura, david, jordan, andrew, amanda, and elly. we had a lot of fun there, played pool, and then went down to tcby for some ice cream and stuff. i pretty much wasted the rest of my day.
except, i got to see trailer d for aotc!! w00t!! it was pretty awesome; i saw a few things that i didn't like, but i guess that's why i'm not the one making the movie.

1. what's your favorite animal?
i would say my favorite animal is probably a lion or a tiger or something. beautiful but deadly.
2. what pets have you had in your lifetime?
i've never had any pets that were personally mine but our family has had two turtles (that both ran away) and one rabbit which died.
3. is there any specific pet that you've wanted but never had? why?
hmm... i would be content without having pets. they're not a big thing for me. i'd say if i had to have one pet it would be a bird, though.
4. are you allergic to any animals?
am i ever. if i'm anywhere near a place where a cat has been in the last month, i can't breathe. the ironic thing about this is that when i was little my quack doctor told me that i was very allergic to dogs and cats shouldn't bother me at all. it's actually quite the opposite. oh yeah, he also told me i was allergic to strawberries, which were my favorite food at the time.
5. do you have any 'pet' pet peeves (your pets or others')?
i just hate stepping in dog poop or having dogs pee on our trees and plants and whatnot. other than that, as long as i'm not allergic to them, i really don't care.

this morning i woke up and we drove down to galveston to attend the annual st. patrick's church st. patrick's day bazaar (even though this is the first year we've gone since i was really little). :op st. patrick's is where my mom attended elementary school when she was little, so she was giving us a tour of the building and stuff. :o) it was pretty neat! and of course she met a bunch of people she went to school with and everything. i won a little stuffed tigger (you know, like from winnie the pooh :op) from one of the booths. hung out with my cousin and it was pretty fun.

hmmm... i'm not one for remembering things like this. occasionally i'll post things on nightly that i feel really express what i'm thinking. other than that, i dunno. usually i don't post that kind of thing.

does it have to be visual art? i'm not really a visual art buff, but i love music and worship john williams. hans zimmer is another of my favorites. there are also various pieces for band that i really love.

okieday, well my day was pretty boring. i woke up tired from watching the oscars last night. i lost my a in english again with that darned great expectations test. *sigh* almost. i can still get an a for the semester if i do well the last nine weeks. *crosses fingers* i worked really hard, too, it just didn't work out. so i'm not as disappointed as i would be, say, if i didn't try. i have to memorize the first paragraph of a tale of two cities (which also happens to be one run-on sentence) to recite to the class for a grade.

i. hate. stupid. people.
i went to go see e.t. with my family... this was after i decided to go to e.t. with my family rather than to ice age with my friends... and not five minutes after the movie started, about thirty stupid teenagers came into our theater (from another movie) and proceeded the talk. loudly. the entire time. other people in the theater were going "shh!" at them but they didn't care. so being the man of business i am waited for a quiet part, turned around and yelled "you can shut up any time now!" they shut up. i think the rest of the theater was grateful. until they started talking again.
why is that the theater is a haven for idiots? i swear, the world would be better off if i were allowed to just shoot all the stupid people in it. *sigh* i have extremely high blood pressure. this is not good. i need a very low-stress career or else i'm going to have a heart attack before i reach 40. and i am seriously not joking.

austin was great. :o) yesterday we drove up there and got some egg rolls for dinner (yum!!) and walked around the ut campus. then we went back to our hotel room and dyed easter eggs. then as we were falling asleep, we were watching some program about aliens and how they're coming to get us. i think i've mentioned here before that i am like the most paranoid person in the world. so of course i couldn't sleep. woohoo.
this morning we went down and had the continental breakfast and stuff. then we walked over to the ut tower for a tour. got many pictures there, which i'll probably post in a bit. it was tall. you could see all of austin from the top. :o) i got to visit dobie, which is the dorm i want to stay in (it has a mall at the bottom, lol). and we also did stuff like look around the giant barnes & noble they have, and buy junk at the university co-op. we drove home, at which time it started pouring. i love rain. so now we're winding down and getting ready to host family easter at our house tomorrow.
and i'm chewing on piece of a straw, but i don't know why.
